The BBC Philharmonic wanted to encourage more young people to embrace live classical music and arranged a series of concerts in Manchester's magnificent Bridgewater Hall which would appeal to an 8 to 14 year old audience. We were tasked with creating a suite of marketing collateral to support the programme.
In response, we created two colourful, musical characters named Benny Bass and Tallulah Treble to lead children through their wonderful journey into the classics, in a fun but educational way. Benny and Tallulah feature throughout all of the marketing materials in this unique BBC Philharmonic campaign.
BBC Philharmonic marketing manager, Amanda Dorr, said: "We have been delighted with the work 999 has produced, not only this concert season, but over the past two years. We recognised from the outset that their creative approach really reflected the Orchestra's core values. I knew that their team would understand the brief and that this campaign would appeal to their original way of thinking. The Journey Through Music initiative demonstrates this and we hope it will communicate information to young people in Manchester in a way that will leave them with a lasting musical experience."
